BIOGRAPHY
"Awesome" is the kind of dynamic creative enterprise you dream of having in your town."
- Lindy West, the Stranger
Part band, part art collective, “Awesome” has been casting its surrealist magic in rock clubs, theater stages, and art galleries since February 2004. They have gained a cult following of art-world enthusiasts and indie-music fans, leading to collaborations with Sean Nelson and Jon Auer, and billings with A.C. Newman, Harvey Danger, The Long Winters, and The Presidents of the United States of America. They were commissioned by The Stranger to compose music for literary events with Miranda July, Jonathan Safran Foer, Dan Savage, and Neal Pollack, and were declared “Ones to Watch” as part of the 2005 and 2006 Stranger Genius Awards.
Their 2nd album Beehive Sessions was produced and mixed by by Jon Auer of the Posies, and it's a sonic web that weaves ‘60s pop, ‘70s concept album, ‘80s Zappa, and a dose of theatricality into a 10-track odyssey. They have finished recording a third album of songs and are in the process of mixing now for an early 2010 release.
