BIOGRAPHY
A Modest Menagerie's music consists of all improvised instrumentals that blends jazz, dub, electronic, funk, alternative rock, loops and samples into a soundscape of its own.
Formed around the seasoned rhythm section of Dave Kurtiak (bass, loops, samples) and Donovan Pfeifer (drums) with special guests Ralph Reed (guitar), Scott Morning (trumpet and effects) and Matt Rankin (sax and effects) A Modest Menagerie, is a newly formed ensemble featuring some of Seattle’s finest players coming together to create a new sound; passive aggressive jazz with wild horns channeling Miles Davis and John Coltrane, melodic bass lines, snares, beats and a Radiohead-like maelstrom of effects and samples.
