Borne of a savage lust for forbidden fruit and all things unknown, the enigmatic Ocelot Omelet continue to blaze trails in uncharted sonic landscapes, delving into the underworld of progressive music and art with unrelenting fervor- the result: a vibrant cosmos of visual sound, ranging from a monsoon of torrential pummeling to severe, deadly calm.
Forever pushing the sonic envelope, founding bassist/vocalist C. Austin LaVere forms the backbone of this strange mutated beast, weaving an aggressive onslaught of crushing rhythms fleshed by the sometimes murderous, sometimes tender guitar of the ubiquitous Whiz, whose ethereal ambience swirling amid LaVere’s lyrics paints a mental picture with surreal aural imagery.
This music is not for the faint of heart; an unsuspecting newcomer may experience dizziness, nausea, disorientation, and in severe cases, inability to control voluntary bodily functions. Many have experienced a complete and utter meltdown after several months of exposure. More seasoned listeners have encountered intense states of euphoria and on occasion, relinquished all earthly duties. But, having built a tolerance through years of conditioning, these three brave troubadours press on, trudging through the briny bog of non-conformity and braving the turbulent dark waters of this emerging sound dubbed “pseudo-retro tele-gothic psycho-hippie filth-punk”.
