BEGINNING ACTING CLASS

Acting is fun, and can be life changing. In this enjoyable introductory seminar you'll learn how actors create characters on stage; how to memorize dialogue, and perform short scenes; and more. We'll do scripted and unscripted theatrical exercises, warm­up exercises and theater games, improvisational skits and scenework, and sense memory work. A fun introduction to acting.

For students who are interested in learning more about auditioning, and the audition scene in Seattle. Taking this class will help you get more comfortable with the process of auditioning, connect with opportunities for actors and other performers in the greater Seattle area, and to get ready to take the next step.


LET'S MAKE A MOVIE (a film acting class) About the instructor Where: University of Washington campus in Seattle Sponsored by the UW's ASUW Experimental College

Love movies? Want to learn more about how they're made, and, if you like, actually act in one? In this fun, fast moving course, now in its ninth year, we'll create and film a short independent movie, working together as a group. Students are free to act in the movie. You'll learn how movies are made, a few basics about screenwriting, how to operate a camera, how to set up and assemble lights, how to mark scenes for the camera with a slate, how to record audio (actors' voices and background sounds), and more. Let's Make a Movie is fun, informative, and at the end of the class we'll have a movie on DVD, made by and starring students in the class.
